School Participates in Fathers Walk 2014
Independence Primary and Middle School participated in the annual Cuyahoga County Fathers Walk on September 18, 2014. They joined 1,000’s of men from public, private, charter and parochial schools throughout Cuyahoga County and other Northeast Ohio counties. Fathers, uncles, grandparents, brothers, mentors, and other significant men in the lives of our students were encouraged to take their kids to school. 
National Merit Scholarship
Congratulations to our two students who have qualified for the National Merit Scholarship semifinalist round. They are Julia Halamek and Tanner Hadick. We are very proud of both our students. They will now be in the competition to see if they earn a National Merit Scholarship. 
Impressive Results for Independence Local Schools on Report Card
The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) has released its report cards for all school districts on September 12. This is the second year that ODE will use letter grades to indicate student achievement and progress of districts. Independence Local Schools had impressive results. 
District Publishes a Quality Profile

On September 15, school districts throughout Ohio are releasing a comprehensive, community-oriented companion to the State’s School District Report Card. Called a “Quality Profile”, the report includes additional accountability measures that better define a high quality education and are not included in the State’s report. Independence Local Schools has placed its Quality Profile report on its website under “Links.”
